i really do love meeting up with old friends! lots of laughter amidst good food and good company was a great way to end the month. everyone was catching up after such a long time! hopefully, we'll be able to get together again in a few months time, if everyone's schedule works.

p.s if you ever go to Timbre, try their peach tea and roasted duck pizza. greatest combination ever. and before you make fun of me for have tea in a place where alcohol is the norm, i'm sorry because i don't drink!

my brother's A level results are coming out tomorrow and i'm strangely nervous for him. all my friends who took their A's last year say that they don't really know what to expect... i mean of course we don't- things can change at the last minute, can't they? crossing my fingers that it's all good news tomorrow!

a sneak peek into Toxic Codeine's upcoming collection. not a lot of clothing, but more accessories. and before you ask, no, the cross necklace isn't for sale... at the moment! i'm experimenting with charms and everything but the cost of it is pretty high so i'll have to see how it goes. the bralet is just one of three that i've made. all are uniquely designed!

can i just tell you guys how hard it is to find a great looking oversized denim jacket? i'm not talking cropped, i'm talking big-AND-long-til-it-reaches-your-thighs. it took me ages to find this design and it's the raddest jacket i've ever seen! best thing about this- it's free sized too (^__^) and GUYS can wear it because denim is just so freaking unisex.

absolutely loved these black lace shorts the moment is saw them. move along, crochet. lace shorts are ten times better and about a billion times sexier too. the eyelet details are just to die for- it looks so good when worn!!

hopefully i'll be able to get everything up by next week or even earlier if all goes well! stay tuned~~

glittered creepers and a new friend

meet Marx. he's a normal winter white hamster, same as the other two before him! i was actually looking at the pearl winter whites but i decided they looked too posh so i chose him instead. sadly, this little man is rather posh himself. he's so camera shy (or stuck up), i could only get one (relatively) good photograph of him.
and all he does is sleep. i have never had a hamster that slept as much as he did. i bought him a cuddly mini-rabbit for him to snuggle with and he seems quite taken with it! hopefully we'll make friends soon~~

blinged up my creepers! they were looking a bit too scruffy for my tastes so i went out to get some glitter and glue, and ta-dah! da best shiz eva.
can't wait to wear them out soon! if you want to spruce up a pair of your old shoes, here's how to do it.

what you need:
1. dry glitter. any colour you prefer! i was looking for mint but they didn't have it. you can get a whole container/bagful at Art Friend. you need QUITE a lot of it, so please don't get those tiny little bottles.
2. Sobo Premium Craft & Fabric Glue. specifically chose this glue because it sticks well to leather. some glues don't, so if you're using another brand, check to see if it's compatible with the material you're working with.
3. your shoes! the most important thing~~
4. fixative. this should come in a aerosol can. spraying it all over after you're done helps the glitter last longer!
5. brushes. a flat one for the main portions and a smaller one to touch up all the nooks and crannies you missed out.

you should be able to find all of these at Art Friend- Takashimaya or Bras Basah. i think there's another outlet near Buona Vista but i'm not sure!

get a plastic container (preferably with a lid) and pour both your glue and glitter in with a 1:3 ratio, 1 being the glue. you need to eyeball it here and the consistency should be of lumpy and thick pancake batter. mix well so that all the lumps are gone.

using the flat brush, scoop up the mixture and start laying a thin layer onto your shoes. try to make even strokes because you'll be putting at least three layers on and you don't want it to be lumpy!
if you can't reach certain spots without staining the parts you DON'T want to paint, don't try it. wait for the main parts to dry first.

wait about 2 hours between layers. while waiting, remember to cover your container! you don't want your glittered glue to dry out.
once you're almost done, use the smaller brush to touch up all the parts that are blotchy or haven't been painted.

after you're totally done, take a few steps back and admire your handiwork! now set it in a safe place where it won't get knocked over/dirty and let it dry totally for two days. it might still be sticky afterwards, but that's okay! spray the fixative and let dry, and then once more. your shoes are done!! now go out and rock it!

just a bit of SS12 trends for you. i realised that trends ALWAYS repeat but the designer just changes the presentation!!
i've loved the girly punk look since forever and the runway is flooded with it. leather or military over soft pastels? yes please! mint, pale pink, pearl, sky, lemon, vanilla... it helps a lot that the names of the colours are all so yummy (^ w ^) dying for the silver Dr. Martens too but i hate international orders... shipping is a bomb! maybe i'll get it as a birthday present to myself~~

desert colours are pretty new (or so it feels to me). i'm thinking of scorching winds in the Las Vegas deserts, vermillion sandstone cliffs and towering rock formations balancing precariously on top of each other. don't forget the hardy daisy that you might see peeking out of a crack or two!
despite not really being into the whole Lita craze anymore, i admit this crochet version is pretty bleedin' awesome. i'm a sucker for shoes with crochet and they got it right with this heeled boot!

can you believe i got those A|X shades for US$19.99? brand new and defect-free. what a steal.

i don't know why i always have such awkward poses. i hate using the word awkward now because it's so overused and every teenager calls himself/herself awkward until it has lost its meaning.

i climbed down to this little (and by little, i really mean little) rocky beach when i was in the park near my hotel. my brother followed soon after he realised i wasn't coming back up any time soon because i was too busy picking up bits of sea glass, and then he shot these few photos of me. the others consist of myself falling off the logs or just flailing my limbs, and i'm sure you wouldn't want to see that! or maybe you would, but i don't want to embarrass myself (x__x)

used my grandfather's old Yashica D camera for the first picture. it's really interesting, how you use it and all. my brother dug it up and started using it properly recently, and the photos are way great. i'd love to learn film photography, but it's really expensive to keep sending films for development and all that jazz.

time to come together

met Paul and AJ, designers of accessories brand OS, today with Bryan and brought them out for lunch at Newton! the food was pretty good even though most of the stalls weren't open... i was complaining that the wan ton mian (noodles with pork and dumplings) weren't cooked properly because it was hard and still stuck together (=__=)

then we went to Bugis to find a print shop (which was highly unsuccessful), window shop, and take neoprints! Cheryl joined us from school too, so it was all great~~ please notice the duck faces in the photo... what's a camwhoring session without one?

AJ with his Bryan Boy pose, Paul with his dodgy Dr. Martens from Bugis and two retards in the background photobombing. for some reason, AJ took a great big whiff of the boots... "ohhhh... the smell of Paul's feet..." hahahahaha ew!

it was really awesome to hang out with them- they're so nice and we have tons in common! i was just dying because AJ and i were discussing madly about watercolour and stuff during the last three minutes while we were walking them to the taxi stand. do you know how hard it is to find an artist using watercolour around me?? in Singapore, most art students use colour pencils or acrylics, and i have NO ONE to talk watercolour with (TT^TT) AJ comes along and BAM this is rad! bitching about the textures and techniques~~

i heard that my previous school might be implementing a ban for HUGGING in a year or so. well, it's still considered a rumor, but rumors always start off as part of a truth, right? so i just want to say this to them because they probably still read my blog. (by the way, screw you, dears. you called me out every year but could never lay a finger on me, and you jolly well know why- it's because you don't have any solid right to control what i write or say here. here's a nice big juicy middle finger for you to suck on.)

HUGGING IS HARMLESS AND PEOPLE SURVIVE ON PHYSICAL CONTACT. if you're that shallow and narrow-minded to think that hugging causes homosexuality rates to rise, you're sorely mistaken, and i suggest you rethink the whole idea.

my teacher used to think my friend and i were lesbians just because she saw us hugging a few times. it wasn't even grope-y hugs, it was just quick friendly hugs. THAT, my dear friends, is a prime example of judgmental behavior.

thank you, and kiss kiss to all the poor darlings in school that would get so affected and traumatised by this rule (if it ever were implemented)!

The Handlebar sent me these two very lovely pieces from their store! a denim peplum top and a chiffon button up shirt. i LOVE the peplum top to bits and the sheerness of the chiffon top thrills me (i'm a sucker for sheer). wore the denim top as a dress because i have a short body and thus can cheat, but if i wore it out, i'd probably wear leggings or a short black bandage skirt underneath.

peplum is really in right now, and for girls who don't have curves (like me TT^TT), this is your saving grace. really. i am not joking.

i wore the chiffon top as a vest instead of a shirt, but i think it would look pretty amazing tucked into shorts and worn with Dr. Marten style boots! there's shoulder pads for a little bit of structure and it's really great (^ w ^)

i feel so busy, i don't know why! just finished a shirt design for my juniors in school last night, so that's one thing down. items for the next collection are on the way but they'll be here only at the end of the month :( i have to guest blog at a site too and i have no idea what to write!

need to slow down and organise everything. my room's a mess, the wardrobe's a war zone, and my bed is unmade.

i just want to go back to Hawaii and chill on the beach!

anyway, here's a quick shot of an outfit i wore one of the nights. it's really windy in the night and there's no sun to warm you up, so i wore tights with my eyeball shirtdress from Taobao! love the print, and some people secretly took photos of me while they thought i wasn't looking, all the while talking at the top of their voices discussing it because they thought i couldn't speak English. pretty amusing.

pretty much adore this entire outfit- i'd wear it a dozen times if i didn't mind re-wearing outfits. the inner collared top was light enough so i didn't feel stifled in our horrid tropical climate! it's a bit preppy for me, but what can i say? gotta make a good impression when you visit people lol what a two faced person i am v(^__^)v

went to my art teacher's house on the second day of CNY and found out that the world really
is a small place! her son + son's friends all knew my brother through choir/school.
going to fly off to Hawai'i in a day's time and i'm totally unprepared. i have not packed a SINGLE thing and i'm really frustrated because my Paypal account's acting up like a motherfreaking beyotch. grrrrrrrrrrrr

hopefully in two weeks i'll be back and slightly more sane.

happy CNY, guys!

haven't been blogging because of loads of other stuff- being caught up with painting, organising things, doing random shit that i can't remember...

embellished denim shirt, DIY / snakeskin leggings, Cotton On / boots, TLN

wore these snakeskin print leggings to visit my extended family today and got loads of comments especially from my uncle- he claimed that i went on a hunting trip to catch a python (or two) and put my legs into their mouths or something along those lines. matched them with my all time favourite boots and embellished denim shirt!!

my appetite wasn't good though, so i didn't really get to enjoy the Indonesian feast my grandmum (and her helpers) prepared (;___;) had a fun time talking with my relatives though!

birds of a feather

today i went on an adventure with my mum and brother. we drove to the farming areas (Choa Chu Kang) to look for an aloe vera plant for her friend and whilst we were in this farm/nursery/mart, i found that they had a whole load of birds in this huge enclosure, so i promptly went over to make friends with them.

the thing about birds which i love is that majority of them are so intelligent, especially parrots/parakeets/budgies and the like. one cute little green one came over to the wire meshing in front of me and climbed it, all the while looking curiously at the camera! didn't get good shots of it though, the backlight was too strong ):

the bottom mynah startled us when it suddenly screamed "我没有!我没有!" (i don't have, i don't have!!!) then it started swearing in dialect ahahahaha best imitation ever~

once we were done, we were going back home but we decided to stop over at the zoo for a quick bite (big brother was feeling peckish). the early lunch ended up becoming an outing to the zoo but we had to leave after seeing only half the exhibits because it was going to rain (-__-)

my mum was asking if we wanted to ride the elephants but as i looked at them carrying the people, just plodding round a tiny path, i just felt my heart break. i know Singapore's zoo is really amazing compared to some others, but to be honest, animals DON'T belong anywhere else but their natural homes. to be forced to carry people for entertainment (no matter how well they're treated) is just not right.even those in the enclosure seemed so listless and bored- they were just standing there at the same spot and really stoning.

sadly, no matter what we do, the wild will never be the same again (;____;) and now i remember why i don't really like going to the zoo.

i don't know why i look as if i'm about to burst into tears in the last photo (o_o)

brought my brother out to Ippudo today because i'm sick and tired of second rate Japanese food and i had to 'repay' him for helping me out with some things ahahaha <3 the sun was crazy today- Singapore was literally baking.

i did a quick dye job on my hair- it's a reddish purple now, but it's more of a glaze than anything else. i'm happy because it's no longer that ugly golden brown which i absolutely detest!
i thought my mum was downstairs doing whatever she was doing so i decided to dye it in the bathroom, but fifteen minutes into it i suddenly heard her.

"Jackie, what are you doing?" oh god oh god think fast- "I'M HAVING A SPA IN THE BATHROOM"
"oh? i thought you were dying your hair again..."

HAHAHA SHE'S DAMN SHARP. but i didn't reply and i think she didn't realise i really was dying my hair lol~
in the end i really had a spa while waiting for the dye to set in hahahaha the things i do to save my skin.

today i felt oddly refreshed- it was the best sleep that i've gotten in quite a while. managed to tidy up parts of my room (and that's a HUGE accomplishment) and run some errands.

i'm really excited because i'm going to be starting on an art piece for a friend soon and i have a feeling that it's going to be amazing!!! i have a whole load of ideas in my head and my creative juices are overflowing.

tomorrow i'll be going to my maternal grandmother's house to make pineapple tarts for Chinese New Year! i always miss out helping her because of school, but this year i don't have school to hinder anything, heh (: going to bug her to show me old pictures because i realised i've never see her below 40ish. i really love her, we do a lot of similar things and have a lot of similar habits despite never ever living together. we do the same things without knowing it and my mum always complains, heh!

i haven't eaten the whole day and now i'm KINDA craving for Burger King. sayonara minna-san!

O MY GAWD

my day has been thoroughly exhausting, mentally and emotionally. i had to collect my O level results at school, and i seriously didn't know what to expect- i mean, you can always feel like you did well but in a sudden twist of fate, the results could be terrible.

so i made my way to the school hall with Mel and proceeded to agonize over every passing second til they shut up about useless shit (they made us SING) and started the distribution of certificates. sadly, i'm number 26 in a class of 36 so i had to wait about an hour or so before i could get mine.

the moment i got the slip of paper, the first thing i saw was a big fat SIX screaming at me. Principle of Accounts, C6. immediately thought of the worst and in that split second, a myriad of emotions just flooded in and overwhelmed me. you know that horrible sinking feeling? yeah, multiply that by a hundred.

HOWEVER, i discovered the rest of my grades to be pretty okay!

English: A2
Literature: A1
Art: A2
SS/Geog: A2
Math: B3
Phy/Chem: B3

ANDDDDD I PASSED CHINESE B HAHAHAHA EVEN THOUGH I JUST WROTE RANDOM NUMBERS IN MY MCQ~~~
so L1R5 is 13 - 2 = 11 and L1R4 is 8 (^ w ^)

was talking to my mum about the results and how disappointed i was because of the PoA grade because i slogged my fucking guts out for it. in the end, she said it was a blessing in disguise because if i had gotten an A1, she'd have pushed me to apply for Accounting/Finance/Banking and all that boring shit which i hate. SO ALL IS GOOD AND I FEEL LIKE IT'S ALL SO SURREAL.

today i went to my school's CCA Fair because it's a tradition for each graduating year to visit the next year's fair, and that is all. it lacked life though, for some reason. it just wasn't as hyped up as the years before (;___;)

my juniors had really cute costumes though! the secondary 4s were all Disney princesses~ Dazale makes a GRAND Ariel!

Nicole's hair is freaking radical. love the ombre effect to bits, and the backlight made it even more magical! so jealous- if i had long hair i'd do the same (but with violet and blue), but anyway i look gross with longish hair so wtv.

HEY I'M STILL ALIVE, IN CASE YOU WERE CHECKING BACK TO SEE IF I DIED OR ANYTHING~~
i've just been generally uninspired to do anything, what with feeling goddamn terrible during the last few days of 2011 and first day of 2012. i'm all right now, though! (^ w ^)
so today i went out with my sister and brother to do our eye check up and well, we went on a shopping adventure after that. we hit H&M, Topshop and Zara~ best fun shopping i've had in ages, i don't get to splurge like this many times so i really appreciate my mum letting me get new clothes! of course, sales are always a good excuse. (from $93 to $73?? buy lah buy lah also got further discount!!)

finally got jeans that fit me properly (well, that's not been altered by myself). the idea of burgundy jeans were a gift from the heavens bestowed upon the designers of Topshop. the grey washed jeans are fab too- love the material!
of course, i couldn't leave Topshop without new socks, could i? fruits, birds, and bows ♡

found the first three pieces from Zara's $29.90 sales rack and i love them to bits. well, the first two, and the last is pretty rad but it's going to need a bit more styling than the former else it'd look trashy.

the black sweater's from H&M and they have it in cream too, you guys should check it out. it's really comfortable and the cutting is real nice! i think i'll bring in something like this in the second collection, so stay tuned (:

i'm sick with a 38.7`c fever but i refuse to go to the doctor because a specialist once told me that the antibiotics they give you in normal public clinics are just watered-down versions of real ones, so they don't cure you as effectively (;___;) and by taking them, (you have to take more because they don't work as quickly) it reduces the effectiveness of the antibiotics even more.
so i guess i'll just drink a whole canal of water and wait for my temperature to go down.

i'm supposed to be at work today but i called in sick (>__<) throat infection and the works, and my mum was so unsympathetic (TT ^ TT)

i swear i see the strangest things at work. omeone flashed me in the dressing room while i was helping to zip her up and she wasn't shy or anything, just let it hang there. she wasn't wearing a bra and she just let go of the cloth and BAM there's a boob in my face. HELLO I AM 16 AND UNDERAGE- THAT IS SO FUCKING R RATED PLEASE HAVE SOME MODESTY. maybe i'm overreacting but i nearly died of shock.

oh i have loads of people asking me to get things from the store and then they disappear after i risk my life climbing precariously placed ladders. don't forget the extremely fussy patrons (that's a given, though) and the naggy mums that follow their daughters into the fitting rooms and then comment on the sun, moon, stars and whether you eat enough or not.

all in all i guess working in retail (even for such a short time) opened my eyes to a whole load of things, and i'm glad for that. this little taste of strangeness led me to have a broader persepective of things... and now even when i'm not in work, i go "excuse me, ma'am," and squeeze my way politely out of the train at peak hours.

i haven't been blogging much because of work, but i'm having thursday and friday off so i'm a little more free now! christmas party tomorrow evening so i'm pretty excited, i'll definitely bring my camera along!

i have nothing to wear though, because all the things i've ordered haven't arrived aghhhh.
just received news that my Taobao items are probably arriving next week though, and i'm so excited! i'll do a haul video (if i can get over talking to a camera). this is what i bought:

i was killing myself over deciding the colour of the platform sneakers- absolutely torn between baby blue and white. love the pink-blue-yellow platform but i wanted the body to be white!!! in the end i got the white... ah boring me. maybe next time!

i also got black cable knit shorts, silver velvet leggings and a blue velvet skirt. bottoms are verrrrry important. then i remembered i don't have a lot of tops (i keep recycling them and i HATE it) so i went to look for Givenchy print sweaters and eyeball jizz. so i found these.

the A.Wang Diego inspired bag had a whole load of colours but i was so disappointed in the ugly yellow-gold hardware of the black leather. had to get the leopard x black instead!
i hope that they'll all look as nice in real life... if they're good i'll share where to get them with you guys but i want to check the quality first! x fingers all the way.

anyway, i've dyed my hair on monday. it was a purple dye but it came out red wtf. it looks alright though so i guess i'll just stick to this colour first. it was a bit disappointing at first but i'm used to it already! (:
my dad's so funny- he didn't even realise i dyed my hair despite obvious highlights and when my mum came back last night, the first thing she said was "you dyed your hair??" dad was all "she dyed her hair? i didn't notice." my family is hilarious i swear.

okay i'm going to Daiso soon and i have to wash up, so hugs and kisses pray that i'll be able to find kitty ears and kawaii stuff~~!

excuse my face in the last photo- haven't slept well lately, i've been thinking too much.

i'm super disappointed because my job has no tolerance for coloured hair, so i'll have to wait until i finish to be able to dye it （；へ：） that'll probably be in late January ahhh sucksss.

Adelia didn't get accepted though, so i'm going to be alone on Friday. to put it mildly, i'm fucking terrified. i hate being alone at new places or whatever. i remember going to secondary school and despite it being affiliated and vaguely knowing the people there, there was no one i knew from my primary 6 class. call me crazy, call it a phobia, but i just don't take well to new surroundings when i'm alone, so i freeze up, keep quiet and then people think i'm a total ice bitch when inside i'm just about to break down.

yesterday, Adelia and I traipsed around in random shops asking if they were hiring. today, we were supposed to go for a Topshop and River Island interview, or send our 'resume' to a frozen yoghurt shop (it's not even a real resume please hahaha so lame) .

the RI interview was first (the Topshop one was a walk-in so we could go there later), and i wasn't really keen on working at Topshop... even though it's an amazing store. long story short, we didn't go for the TS interview in the end ahahahaha but the RI lady just called me at about 6 and i've got the job! so quick! WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM.
i won't have to send awkward resumes anymore!!! (●´∀｀●)
okay so i'm starting on Friday and i hope everything will go smoothly. i hope. i hope.

so i wore this outfit to the interview (except the boots were replaced by T-bar flats). bought this lace vest from H&M because it was just too pretty. found some lace overlay shorts too, but when i tried them on, they looked like FBTs (ugly running shorts) so i put them back. wanted a bodysuit with a cute neckline buttttttt i am a self-conscious teen and i am afraid of showing my tummy （*/∇＼*）

omg i swear i'm in love with these Balenciaga-esque boots. i was trying to find them on Taobao but almost all their designs are reptile skinned patent (in orange and blue, no less) and i hate patent. to add to that, patent reptile skin is ten thousand times worse than patent itself.
these boots are AMAZING to wear, they're really light and comfortable!! i have a pair of combat boots and they're so fucking heavy compared to these.

fur looks fabulous, don't deny it. it's goddamn trendy too, especially during autumn and winter. but is it all that great?

recently, i've decided to stop purchasing fur or faux fur pieces. despite loving the whole look of it (i have a clutch and a bag), i don't think supporting the fur trade in the fashion industry is worth it.
before i continue, here is a disclaimer: this is my opinion, and i'm not forcing it on anyone. it's a mere reflection. (and i'm not pinpointing any particular brand whatsoever)

wait, you might say. only fur? why not leather? again, this is a personal reason. i eat cows. HAHAHA OK THAT SOUNDS STRANGE. well, since i consume beef, we might as well use their skin too, right? at least that's my opinion... pig leather? i wasn't brought up to respect pigs as much as other animals due to cultural/religious reasons, so it's not really in me to be against leather. i think 99% of my stuff is all PU anyway. ok absolute end of any disclaimer.

i realise that hunters do need an income. that's an entirely different matter altogether. (then again, saying that fox/rabbit fur is alright because they're a pest to the community is just so subjective. it's THEIR natural habitat. in all actuality, we humans are the ones that are the pests to their communities.)

i'm speaking out against the farms that brutally rear and maim animals just for their fur. they skin animals alive, electrocute their genitals et cetera. that is NOT acceptable. while doing research for my art paper, i've also found out that cats and dogs, lovely domesticated pets, are skinned and their fur is deliberately mislabeled so that consumers think it's Asian wolf, gae-wolf, Goupee, mountain cat, Katzenfelle, or even rabbit.

in the past, animals were hunted for their skin because humans had no protection against the seasons. yet, tribes hunted responsibly, respecting the animal and using almost every part of it. it wasn't mindless breeding and killing like now.

i won't go on so long. this isn't a post about animal cruelty. i'm stopping my support of even faux fur because buying ANY type of fur is an unspoken agreement that yes, fur is okay. fur is NOT okay, when so many animals are suffering for our selfish personal adornment and beautification.

what i wore yesterday at a Topshop event. they had P.Osh brownies and some syrup+Sprite drink that was delish but i didn't take because... THINK OF ALL THE SUGAR. whatever. i'm such a hypocrite.

we were given um... free condoms... to promote safe sex. so Carissa and i gave them to our guy friends because honestly, if you're going to have sex, wouldn't it be strange to suddenly hand them over to the dude??? and my mum would totally freak if she found a condom in my possession.

my brother has offered to sponsor my hair dyeing as a Christmas present! beyond excited~~~ we're going to the salon on the 5th (if nothing crops up).

a little ranting: i'm supposed to work some laser tag thing (it's the game where groups of people shoot at each other with lasers to gain points, yeah?), and yet the person (friend's brother) hasn't been texting me at all despite promises to do so.
firstly, it's extremely disappointing because it's more or less confirmed and therefore, i won't go out and look for another job, right? but because of the delays, i'm stuck at home rotting.
it's not fair because i'm obliged to wait for their details and shit but they don't even have the decency to reply me despite numerous promises to do so. sick of the display of unprofessionalism.

forget it, i'm going job hunting if they don't text me back by tonight. t(-___-)t

it's all a blur last night

it was prom last night! mel came over in the afternoon to watch makeup tutorials and prepare ourselves and then we went over to Goodwood Park Hotel~
so here's the dress! as i said before, it's a really simple piece because i don't want it to be worn only once. it was easy to run around in too (^ ^)v

although the company was great, the food sucked. so meh, i feel cheated. they served us a very, very strange appetiser:

we only found the menu when we were at the soup course, and we started wondering what on earth was Sea Blubber and Top Shell, because the texture of the dish was a bit weird too.
and when i got home and googled it, up came a very UGLY jellyfish plus marine snails.

i am a 16 year old. i cannot appreciate avant-garde food :(

anyway, on to other events during prom- mel broke the heel of her shoes and was forced to go barefoot or wear trainers. she went barefoot in the end but it was apparently better because she was free to run about \(* w *) /
it was nice to see everyone so dressed up!!! a definite change from the nun-clothes we usually see each other in hehehehe~

rediscovered these Chanel-esque tattoos in the midst of all the junk in my drawers so i decided to put them on for prom tomorrow. the flowering branch is plastic-y and seems to be wrinkling and peeling... low quality but pretty temporary tats :(
my mom walked in, saw them and sighed heavily hahahaha~~ and questioned me on what on earth i was doing to my collars.
well i got the spike from GMarket but they fucking cheated me. apparently, 1 set = two miserable spikes, and shipping was fucking expensive. still pretty miffed over it.

anyway, i sewed on the rest of the beads and stuff so my shirt isn't so plain anymore! managed to sew on my missing buttons too~~ so all in all it was a productive day. time for me to lay on my bed and laze the next few hours away.

it's nice not having to rush studying a subject. i'm more or less done with my O levels, except for an MCQ (multiple choice question) paper on monday plus my basic Chinese papers on Tuesday and Wednesday. after that, it's absolute freedom for me! i've to collect my prom dress on Monday after my exam, super excited about it <3<3<3 i hope it'll be lovely!!

i'm going for a wedding later (11/11/11, everyone's doing it!) and seeing people that i haven't seen in four years. it's going to be a little awkward but HECK I WILL GO IN THERE AND CLAP AT THE RIGHT MOMENTS AND NOT BE AWKWARD WHEN LADIES I DON'T REMEMBER PAT ME ON THE HEAD AND SAY "have you grown?!!" and i won't say "have you shrunk??!" asdakj;lfja

right, just washed off a face mask and my skin seems noticeably whiter... it's not supposed to make my skin whiter...

well i've been having this denim jacket for quite a while now! i love denim and am constantly looking for the perfect denim jacket, but i can never find one that isn't cropped. this one is pretty alright and comfortable though the sleeves are a little large. at least they'll keep my hands warm!

i got tired of my hair constantly in my face, so first i cut my fringe. so much better, but not what i liked still.

so today i took the plunge again and went short! it was so nerve wracking because i love all the styles that long hair can do, but at the same time... UGH YOU KNOW GIRLS. WE ARE SO ASDFGAJFLJALKK WITH DECISIONS.

my hair was a virgin for 11 months and it got raped by scissors again~ how funnnn. i wanted to go pink so badly but my mum accompanied me to the salon so i couldn't dye it then. kept badgering her, though, so i think she's more open to the idea (think 40% agreeable?!?)

i was hoping so hard that i'd get a hairdresser than wouldn't screw my hair up majorly and WOW MIRACLE I HAD THE OWNER OF THE SALON DO MY HAIR ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

okay i think i need to address this: an anonymous person accused me (rather rudely) of not being of Singapore citizenship bla bla bla. although my mother is of Indonesian-Chinese descent and considered an immigrant, my father is a first generation Singaporean and i was born and bred in Singapore from the year 1995. not once in my life have i been offered citizenship in another country due to my race.

i took this obnoxious statement with a pinch of salt, because the person probably doesn't know the meaning of RACE and NATIONALITY. on the other hand, you can diss my style or taste all you like, but it is social suicide* to insult someone because of race/citizenship. hello, fellow Singaporean. have you not read your SS text book?

taking a break from excessive painting. i slept at 0001h last night because i was slaving over a watercolour aztec print with a size 0 brush. decided to forgo the shading with paint and instead scratched it out with ballpoint pen instead. i'm such a slacker.

managed to memorise all my letter writing formats for tomorrow though! so glad that English is something that i don't have a problem with. going to breeze through the paper and write my heart out. dear God please help me, x fingers.

i'm forever irritated at how the quality of my photos are compromised because 1. i'm using some crappy online editor instead of my beloved Photoshop and 2. i think Blogger is chewing my pictures up and spitting them out, that's why they're so blurry. HMPH. does anyone else have that problem???

anyway, i remembered that i had these acid washed leggings from Uniqlo in my wardrobe, so i dug it out and wore them to church today. i went to Uniqlo to look for them specifically because i remember i was reading a fashion blog and the blogger had these leggings and she looked so bloody cool. so i went to buy them, and luckily, the last pair was in my size!!! yeahyeahyeah \O/

OH, BTW. you have to try these wafer creams. my dad's favourite so i ended up eating a lot (and i mean, A LOT) of them. yumyumyum

what i wore out on a lunch date with my brother today. he helped me take my photos, thus explaining the change of scenery ahahaha i didn't have to rely on my self timer!

random fact: i found out that i can use my sister's pressed powder as a bronzer- that's how different our skin tones are.

oh oh oh when i was in the Takashimaya departmental store, i saw this girl (about 20, i guess), adjusting her bustier top in front of everyone. not even discreetly. have you no shame?? good lord. walked past and gave her my best "wtf" face (-___-).

and when i was on the bus, these three secondary school students crowded around me (they had no concept of personal space ok) and one of the guys squashed me to death, i swear. so traumatising.

ok i'm going to take a shower and study now ahahaha saw my friends at McDonalds and they're so hardworking. i'm worried because i'm not worried that my first paper is on Thursday and here i am blogging. peace.

right, i'm a bit ticked off at the moment with my parents. it's never fun when they're constantly against your style and degrading it every chance they get. my dad isn't too bad, but my mum's the worst.

today, i wore my Lucyd Acyd leggings (that's the laced up ones) to church. thing is, i go with my parents so they're able to see whatever i'm wearing, yeah? they didn't say a single word about my outfit et cetera, and so on. even when i came back and my dad greeted me when i walked into the house, he didn't even say anything about it.

next thing i know, when i'm wearing the exact same thing to go for dinner, they're kicking up a huge fuss about it and forcing me to change! i mean, what the hell?? you saw me wearing it this morning, what's changed??
honestly luh screw your opinions ok i'll wear what i want and you can not walk next to me if you want, i don't really give a flying fuck. -.-

i swear the people in my family are just so damn funny. today i told my mum that i wanted to buy stuff from GMarket because it's way cheaper etc, you know? what does she reply me with?

i haven't been feeling all well this past few weeks, what with sudden dizzy spells, clammy skin and cold fingers and being generally light headed. Googled the symptoms (hey, because that's what we all do, right??) and came up with hypoglycemia- low blood sugar. i don't know if it's true or what, but i'll be going to the clinic for a test soon. how troublesome.
it's like the absolutely opposite of diabetes (something that everyone used to curse me with when i was a sugar-high kid) and it's so... strange. how on earth do you cure it?? anyway, i've been eating more frequently, because i can't really eat a lot at one go, and have been taking sweets throughout the day. it does help. ehhhh.

have i ever told you guys how much i love leggings? despite them being easily made into a major fashion faux pas, they're really comfortable and when paired with a great big graphic shirt, nothing can go wrong!
these leggings from Lucyd Acyd a while back are the coolest i've ever seen. the lace up front is so bold and daring i almost didn't dare to get them, but now i'm so glad i did! i think my mum is going to have a fit or an aneurysm, though. hopefully she won't protest too much, because she hasn't seen them yet.

i realised i always look like a sullen teenager in my photographs (wait, that's EXACTLY what i am!) so i tried smiling more... i think i look better with an angsty scowl on my face.

and this is one amongst fifty thousand others that didn't make me look like Gollum from LOTR. i bemoan my plight. (p.s i'm wearing a LOVE ring from here! isn't it just so cute??)

when i came back from school, i found something i don't usually see... a package in my driveway. the postman threw the parcel into the house because he couldn't put in the the letterbox slot -.- how inconsiderate! never mind, i'll forgive him this one time because he sends me everything else that i buy!!

anyway, i received these lovely things from LoveEien19, a local blogshop. look at what she sent me!

my favourite has to be the heart-shaped shades and the LOVE ring. the moustache ring is super cute as well and you know the best part? it's adjustable, and so is the black diamente ring! i always feel so sad when the prettiest rings can't be adjusted, because i have really thin fingers :'(
the HoH-inspired necklace is so ghetto-bling worthy when paired with my current outfit, but i can absolutely imagine it looking extremely classy with a LBD and pumps.

did a little sketch of Charlotte Free in pencil and watercolour last night. it took me about half an hour but i'm putting it away for now so i can work on it when i have time again! the proportions are very good yet. she's beautiful but really difficult to draw because there's just this AURA (for lack of a better word) that is hard to capture. hopefully i'll get it right soon!

uploading these pictures gave me so much grief because the browser was a temperamental bitch and kept loading it halfway -.-

oh yes, a massive joke that happened yesterday- i pulled out a pair of tights from the package intending to paint them, but instead of the full length tights that the salesman promised me, i now have six pairs of sheer ankle tights/socks/stockings. i feel absolutely cheated! at least i have a lifetime supply of socks now, seeing that my socks last me forever.
can't return them as well since i bought them well over a week ago and i've thrown the receipt away since then! :(

anyway, this look is inspired by the fairy kei subculture. this subculture deals with everything in pastel and baby animals, with a very 'cute' style. i mixed up a denim jacket to toughen the ensemble but i absolutely adore the gauzy, multi-layered skirt. it's really fun to twirl around in!

anyway, wore my size 16 blazer over my sister's white collared shirt as a sad imitation of a Hogwarts' uniform. i guess it's legit enough, seeing how the blazer is literally TEN sizes too big for me therefore blazer = school robe. yes, i'm wearing a green tie in the first pic because i'm saluting the whole Slytherin concept of Draco Malfoy, but it was choking me so i pulled it off after one pic HAHAHA sorry guys. i have this phobia of too-tight collars. or just things that i feel around my neck. my throat just tightens up and i totally panic.

yare, yare, i camwhored and all but i assure you that i don't do this very often (actually, not at all) because it's kinda awkward taking pictures of your face close up... at least that's what i feel. i promise this is a one-in-a-blue-moon kinda thing. the next time i camwhore is when i have nothing to blog about, which is going to be a looooooooong time from now!

disconnect and self destruct one bullet at a time

here is my Schwingschwing leather harness that i've yet to wear out because i can't seem to find the perfect combination for it. it's a statement accessory that needs and an entire outfit to be built around it or its charm is going to be wasted!

i made the red velvet skirt during the weekend. forgotten how much velvet nape frays! had to use emergency blanket stitches on the edges because i don't have a serger but it turned out alright! anyway, i've a little easy tutorial for you guys in case you want to try it out. if you're a first-timer, you should experiment with easier fabrics like cotton~ it'd won't be as hard to control!

what you need:
fabric of your choice
pins
elastic (length of your waist + 1 inch)
thread (same colour as your fabric)

1. measure your waist and the length that you want. cut out a rectangle as shown.
2. pin a hem for the top and bottom. leave a space large enough at the top for the elastic band to go through! sew.
3. use a safety pin to attach one end of the elastic to the fabric while pushing the other end through to the other side.
4. the cloth should gather as you push it along.
5. once you've reached the end, SEW the ends together (ignore the diagram haha drew it wrongly)
6. flip fabric inside out (if it already isn't like that), sew the two sides of the fabric together, and VIOLA! INSTANT SKIRT! it should take you no more than an hour, it's that easy (:

sigh... onto other things. feeling the typical teenage angst today because i failed accounts miserably. i've dropped from an 80 to a 39, and damn, is that bad. haven't had time to look through my mistakes but i have this sour taste in my mouth just THINKING about it.
worked really hard for my chemistry as well but ended up with a mere pass on the dot. it just sucks when you worked so hard for something but didn't get results, doesn't it?

strangely enough, i passed my physics even though i slept through the exam! at least i've got a miracle. now that i'm actually studying (good lord, a shock i know) i might actually have a chance at getting GOOD grades.

it's my Chinese oral on monday. i have a terrible, terrible feeling that something is going to go horribly wrong.

well, it's Halloween come early for me. got this idea of a look shot in tokyofashion and of course, BlackMilk has a version of these, don't they? i wanted mine to look more grungy and street-style instead of merely printed with solid-white, so i painted them and got this textured look instead (:
going to be in the middle of my national exams on the 31st, so no crazy parties for me!! books&papers&notes all the way :'(

i have discovered SUGARCULT. i have no idea how they've gone under my (albeit weak) music radar. they're too amazing TT^TT i've missed out too much! totally going to rape the replay button on my iTouch so badly these coming weeks.
ahhhh i'm getting back my final prelim papers tomorrow, tuesday and wednesday. i know i didn't do well for accounts and physics (the latter is a given, i left half the paper blank, fell asleep, and dreamt of a couple consisting of a Yanki and sweet Lolita running down Orchard Road chased by a Pedobear until my teacher woke me up), but it has motivated me to improve!

imagine walking through a pine forest barefoot. the grass is soft and ticklish beneath your soles and the scent of crushed pine needles permeate every sense. you twist and turn amongst the rough trunks, finally ending up at a stream where pebbles of every colour line the bottom. dangling your legs in the clear, cold water, you wonder if this is bliss.

totally loving these shorts. they're long(ish) enough so my mum likes them, and the beaded accents are just too yummy for words! the sweater is a long time favourite, since my sister hasn't been using it. there's a bleach stain somewhere, though, so it has an almost-neon orange spot -.-

went to what we call the Malay Village today to buy fabric! forgot to get some things though, so i'm going back after my exams. can i just tell you that i've got the most GORGEOUS velvet, EVER? i can't stop stroking it :P
after that, my mum and i drove over to Chinatown with me giving her sketchy directions...

"there used to be an exit to Rochor Road at the CTE!! (that's a express way)"

after asking around, we walked over to another centre and found a little shop, and what a gem it was! it's chock-full of vintage goodness, but i didn't really get to look around because Mother Dearest was rushing me. grabbed these fabulous earrings that were just screaming my name and the enamelled ring! so much loveeeee.
totally bringing some friends back to that place! Chinatown is such a place for adventure!

it's been a yucky weekend :(

it's been all rainy-without rain, you know the dreary-grey-skies-kinda weather? love rainy days as much as the next person, but what kind of weather is this when there's no water pouring down from the heavens???
anyway, i'm sitting cross-legged on my chair, snuggled in my navy Burberry sweater and drinking Lipton tea from a mug whilst scrolling through tumblr and blogs.

i hope this week will be good. have some career thingy on tuesday, but the talk i signed up for (art-related careers) has 0.1% of the student population. oh well. less competition??
meh... right now i just want to finish my exams. urkgkjaksjdlajla stuck in this rut sorry for the mindless rambling love you all

went to IKEA today for Swedish meatballs. i've missed it for so long. the sauce is to die for :*

today was my absolute-REST- day. spent the whole late morning/early afternoon drawing and then wasted about two hours traveling from Serangoon to Tampines. i swear, Tampines is in the middle of the wildlands. there's nothing there but forest all around. oh, and construction sites, but whatever. let me stay in my centralised neighbourhood.

it was nice seeing half of my drama friends! too bad the other half couldn't make it. hopefully, we'll be able to get together again sometime soon ;)

dyed my hair back to black yesterday because i was sick of streaky orange-brown! i'd rather go all black than brown if i can't dye my hair the colours i want. it was a blue-black dye (MEN'S GATSBY, hehehe) but because my hair isn't bleached, the blue isn't that obvious, only under strong lighting.

i lovelovelovelove this denim jacket. if only the sleeves were JUST a little shorter! when i roll it up, it's too bulky and tight >:( other than that, it's super versatile and comfortable ;)

my nails were the result of a half an hour spent in one of our local drugstores with my drama friends, ogling the makeup. i got bored looking at crazy eyeliner so i made use of all the L.A Girls nail polish testers.
the ridiculously warped ASOS cuff was salvaged with a mallet and pliers. i shaped it into something more wearable!

well, i have one week of ~~freedom~~ excessive revision. it's just a glorified study break for us... 50/40-ish more days.

review: ASOS armour cuff

so i ordered the ASOS armoured cuff a little while ago and it came recently in the mail. was really excited and i opened it with gusto, only to be sorely disappointed.

it was protected by a thin sheet of foam, but that was all. previously, when i ordered jewelry from ASOS, even a thin metal string cuff had it's own box! this armour cuff was left as it was in a ziploc plastic bag.

when i drew it out of the bag, i realised it was totally smashed. look at it. how the hell can somebody even fit it on the wrist with the amount of warping that has happened?

verdict: VERY DISAPPOINTED AND PUT OUT. you'd think ASOS would have better protective packaging, given that they ARE one of the biggest online retail sites. thanks a lot for the waste of money.

happy 17th birthday, dear willa!!

i was baking brownies for the first time today. it was an almost disaster, but it turned out to be alright. it wasn't very sweet though, because i didn't have enough sugar, but milk chocolate frosting on top solved it. my mum told me that we had sugar, so i didn't buy any. turned out that we had none at all!! gods.

i think i'll stick to cookies.

it's a gorgeous rainy day!

do you see the gorgeous eye-bags that i've acquired? got them over the week from the final prelims. well, i'm done with all my papers now but there's no feeling of accomplishment because the O levels are looming up.
i haven't been drawing much, my creative juices have been sucked dry by other subjects :(

don't know what's going on but my mum and i have been fighting so much over the smallest things. i try not to retort so i sit there listening to her quietly but it seems to agitate her even more. so fucking sick of listening to her narrow minded opinions, and she is so judgmental. i absolutely cannot wait to get out of the house.
then again, i'm sorry that our relationship is deteriorating. i wish things wouldn't be this way. then again, i guess at some point of our lives, this happens. might as well get it over and done with.
